You know what I really cannot stand about Quentin Coldwater haters??? Their inability to see that his angst (which yes is comedic sometimes) comes from his honest to god clear mental illness… He suffers from clinical depression, which I myself suffer from. They are like “why can’t he just enjoy his life and this magical world” because mental illness doesn’t work that way. If I had magic, which I desperately wish I did… It wouldn’t well magically fix shit. That’s the whole point of the series too, or at least one of them. Magic can’t fix things. You can’t magically be fixed. Yes Quentin makes stupid decisions as a young adult but we all do. He’s a very flawed character but his character is one of the most honest portraits of a person with depression I’ve ever seen.

A+, As someone who is suffering from atypical depression all this. Quentin is the only character i really identify as. No lie, both book and show Quentin. I really didn’t expect to have my heart strings be pulled so hard reading the books, (fact : i watched the show before the books, and I finished the trilogy in two days).

There is so much of me in Quentin, down to the fact that his father died. I cried when he cried out for his father, and it reminded me how much I miss my own father, (my father died when I was ten). And a lot of my own angst definitely comes my depression.

Quentin is a very flawed character indeed, but we as humans are flawed as well.
