Okay so we have this locker room at school where there this one locker that isn’t connected to the others. I don’t even know if someone actually uses it because it always had the same stickers and lock ever since I entered the school. So when semester started some people began to move it randomly, but as time passed, it became a lot more intense.
So eventually the principal heard of this and got really angry, saying some students were lacking maturity and respect. So what were the students reaction to this? Turning it into a meme of course.
And that’s not even half of it, some people keep posting new ones as I write this.
Texas-based Eric Shauwn Cray swept to 100m victory at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Tuesday as he led a Filipino-American assault on the athletics competition.
Cray, who will represent the Philippines at 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics in the 400m hurdles, switched to 100m but easily won with a personal best of 10.25sec.
The Philippines’ California-born Kayla Richardson, 17, edged Thailand’s Tassaporn Wannakit in the women’s 100m, and Caleb Stuart smashed the Games’ men’s hammer record to take gold.
Cray, 26, dominated the men’s 100m, topping the heats and then winning the final by 0.2sec from Indonesia’s Boby Yaspi, with Thai defending champion Jirapong Meenapra fifth.
Some critics question the Philippines’ policy of recruiting overseas talent with Filipino heritage, but Cray said it was an honour to represent his mother’s country.
“I just feel that if you have Filipino blood and you cherish the traditions of the Philippines, you know it’s a great honour for me to be able to represent and I am just happy that they allow me to,” he told reporters.
“My mother is Filipino and she was born in Olongapo and I was raised there for a little while and then moved to the States.
“So I just enjoy being able to represent my country, my mother’s country, which makes me proud and I hope I can make them proud as well.”
Richardson, who also has a Filipino mother, has only visited the Philippines once on holiday but she also said she was proud to represent her country.
The teenager had an anxious wait while officials examined footage of the 100m finish before awarding her gold, a whisker ahead of Thai runner Tassaporn.
“I am so amazed, this is what I came here to do and I am glad I was able to get it done,” Richardson said.
“It’s my first time here and I am younger than most of these girls and I am just very proud of myself that I can represent my country.”
She added: “Philippines is coming up, let me just say that.”
Earlier, fellow Filipino-American Stuart beat the Games hammer record by more than three metres (10 feet) to emphatically win gold.
Stuart’s 65.63m was more than half-a-metre off his personal best, but still obliterated the 2013 record of 62.23 set by Thailand’s Tantipong Phetchaiya, who took silver with 62.12.
Follow up: Cray added to his many accomplishments by breaking the Southeast Asian Games record for the men’s 400-meters hurdles competition at the National Stadium in Singapore on Wednesday, June 10. Cray finished with a time of 49.40 seconds, beating Cong Lich Quach of Vietnam’s 50.29 output to also win the Philippines their 19th gold medal in the SEA Games, which puts them in 5th place overall. Andrian of Indonesia, which drops to 6th place, came in at third with a time of 51.36. The previous record, set by Thailand’s Chanon Keanchan in 1995, was 49.76. (Rappler)
Absolutely none of them look Filipino LOL pretty much you can replace the word ‘Filipino’ in the title with any nationality and it will be the same.
I see Filipinos daily and these are NOT Filipinos at all.
And what the hell do Pilipinxs look like hm? We aren’t even a monolithic group.
Do you know exactly how many ethnic groups exist in the Philippines and because of it there are so many different phenotypes and characteristics from ethnic group to ethnic group that we don’t all look alike?
They are half. They are still fuckin Pilipinx regardless of what they look like.

Well guess what? They are the original inhabitants of what is now called the Philippines. They are the original, not the Austronesian groups that came later on.
And yes. They are Pilipinx.
And guess what? Even those who are not Aeta, Agta, Ayta, Ati, etc. there are those if you look at them you wouldn’t think they were Pilipinx because your perception and view of Pilipinxs are those who have straight black hair, light to dark brown skin, and probably looks like this.

This is my family right here, all proud Akean. Do I look Pilipinx to you? Probably not and I get it a lot even among other Pilipinxs. But that’s because I don’t fit your “criteria” and typical view of what we are supposedly suppose to look like, whatever the fuck that is suppose to mean.
See that awesome woman in the middle with the sunglasses? Yes. That is what everyone in my moms side of the family has and looks like. Extremely curly hair. She is 100% Akean along with everyone else on that side minus my mom and her siblings who are half and the only difference is that my mom has light skin but the curly hair trait is still dominant. By looking at my Tita you would think she was Polynesian or something. In the Philippines, people like you call people who look like my moms family, as black because they are much darker and have really curly hair not your typical straight, wavy hair.
And what about these girls who are Manobo, an indigenous group in Mindanao? Do they look like what you “view as Pilipinx”?

Apparently you may be surrounded by Pilipinxs every day, but you don’t know a damn thing about our history, our diversity both within the more than 100 ethnic groups in the country and those who are mixed.
Are you Pilipinx? Well if you are then you surely don’t know anything about being Pilipinx and those mixed Pilipinxs athletes above competing in the SEA games surely have more pride and knowledge of who we are than you fuckin do.

Meet Joe Simonton.
Now this man right here lived in Eagle River, Wisconsin in 1961 and was just mindin’ his own business like any Wisconsin dweller in the late morning when, according to his statement, a casual, giant fucking UFO landed in his backyard. Stay with me here, aight, because not only did he claim aircraft touched down in his humble little lawn, but apparently a bunch of little dudes got out to ask (telepathically) for water. Bear with me here, ok, because according to him when he came back outside with a thing of water there were a bunch more aliens chilling outside of the ship…
…making pancakes.
As most aliens do upon making contact with other civilizations, truly.
So apparently they give Joe 3 of these pancake things in exchange for the water and take off because why the fuck would they hang around
and of course in the name of science Joe eats one and claims it tasted like cardboard but anYwAyS
So he takes the pancakes to the authorities to analyze and they find that they are in fact made of flour and grease and yada yada yada so they naturally assume this guy just fried up some pancakes and brought them in BUT
What they can’t explain is the fact that there were actually signs of some form of large object having taken off from Joe’s lawn.
And I can’t get over the fact that somewhere out there in a government handbook there is a section under Project Bluebook that some poor person had to sit and painstakingly write out in great detail that a man supposedly received pancakes from extraterrestrials
Well, it’s been a bit since I did an animation related post, but we have another post going around on tumblr. You guys have probably seen it by now. It’s the one with this gif:
There’s been a few responses to the initial post, including a joke made at the expense of CalArts, other people ripping this post apart, some guy with an anime avatar claiming that all western animation is the same, and at least one post commenting that “Sans is Shaped Like A Friend.”
These designs actually don’t bother me. The rounded head and the big eyes make these characters look friendly and non threatening. Designs like this are meant to play on human’s natural instinct to protect babies. Designs like this are pretty standard in shows where the protagonist is meant to be appealing to a large audience. Disney has been using this formula for years.
Contrary to what this posts suggests however, the character design for these characters do show enough variation worth looking into. While these characters do share some similar characteristics, the way they’re depicted in the actual show itself shows just how distinctive these characters can be. Lets take a look.
Clarence
I’m really not to familiar with this show, but just from pictures and gifs alone, I can tell that this show isn’t too preoccupied in trying to look like other shows. The design seems to be ugly in a very deliberate way. From what I gather, this show has a strong appeal towards nostalgia, and I can actually see that. The designs look like the were lifted from the doodles in some grade school notebook. Personally, I don’t find this shows art stye to be particularly appealng to me personally, but I do have to give them props for making something so unmistakably their own.
Star Butterfly
When I see Star Butterfly, I see somebody’s deviantArt persona personified. Normally that would be considered a bad thing, but given Star’s character in the show, it seems all to perfect.
Star is the perfect example of a parody sue, with her design emphasizing the fact.
Her horns seem to recall the fancy hats and headbands created by many fan artist’s oc’s. You can find headbands like these at your local Hot Topic or else in comic conventions everywhere. Star Butterfly is totally a character who’d go out of her way to buy one of them
Along with her hair, these horns also serve another purpose. While Star’s face and eyes all give off the babyish round design people are meant to find appealing, her horns and her hair add an element of danger. Star is a destructive character, though it may not be so obvious at first. These spikes are subtle reminders of the fact.
Her teeth and mouth are actually very fun to draw. It would be very easy to give a character like Star a set of perfect teeth, but for whatever reason, her mouth seems to be filled with nubs. Perhaps its from chewing her wand all the gosh darn time.
Her clothing changes from episode to episode. This is both reminiscent of many straight mary sues in fiction, but in the context ofa cartoon in gives the audience variation.
Perhaps the greatest asset to Star design is her jaw line that actually moves with her mouth, and squishy cheeks the animators are actually allowed to squish (all these characters have the same kinda cheeks, but this show takes advantage of the fact on a regular basis) something actually kind of rare in this style of animation. this allows for some truly great expressions from her character.
And lets face it, we all knew at least one person who acts like Star in some way or form, inflicting their forced cuteness on the world. Star may look like a self insert character from a Sailor Moon fanfiction, but she’s written like the people who write the bad fanfiction in the first place. Her design is entirely intentional.
Dipper and Mabel
I’m sorry, but the initial post really doesn’t do Dipper justice. I mean he’s given an incredibly out of character grin. Admittedly that Grin seems right at home with Stay and Clarence, but Dipper never, ever makes that face, something I’m sure has been done intentionally in the character inception. Heck, I don’t even think Mabel is allowed to make that face.
If anything, that first gif shows why big smiling face with soulless staring eyes are inappropriate for most characters. Facial expressions on the character designs are just one kind of way cartoons arre meant to be set apart from one another. Take a look at these faces:
While Dipper is certainly allowed to smile, the faces he’s most often seen with are meant to communicate his status as straight man to the rest of the cast, something usually accomplished be giving him a serious scowl. Contrast this with his twin sister Mabel:
Despite sharing a character base with Dipper, Mabel’s expression embody excess. Even her unhappy expressions stay away from subtlety
The big exceptions for both of these characters seem to occur when acting out of character is the entire point. Mabel picks up some subtler unhappy expressions when the moment is genuinely meant to make the audience feel sad.
Meanwhile Dipper’s out of character squeeing is only funny because of how uncharacteristic it is for Dipper to make an expression like that.
Heck, the only time I think Dipper made the face featured in the original gif was in a scene playing up how creepy that expression really is.
So here we have two characters who have an in universe reason for looking the same, and yet both characters are still distinctive enough to be recognized as their own characters. Compare that with, for example, Dragon Ball Z.
There really is a lot to like about this show, but Character Design is not one of them. I’m sure anime can have a wide range of art styles, but the ones that seem to get popular always seem to have a similar art style, and in the case of shows like Dragon Ball Z, it can be really hard to distinguish characters from one another. When searching for those gifs, I actually had to make sure those two really were separate characters.
Gumball Waterson
Gumball is a blue cat drawn in a deliberately flat art style. This show is a love letter to many, many different styles of animation, and the main characters themselves resemble graphic design in their flatness. This of course is contrasted beautifully with the live action backgrounds. This is probably the only case I will mention where the design decisions are less character based and more art direction based, but these decisions are ultimately what made this show so unique to begin with.
Steven Universe
Here we have a character’s whose round cheeks are purposely meant to evoke the characters youngness. Though this is of course present in the other characters as well, Steven is notable in that his young looking features are an actual plot point in the series, as well as one of his defining traits.
Steven was designed to be the ultimate little brother (A bit ironic since he’s older than pretty much everyone except Star on this post) and his design looks it.
Finally, I’d like to point out that if these characters were all standing next to each other and silhouetted against some harsh light, then it really wouldn’t take much effort to tell who’s who. Dipper has his hat, while Mabel has her hair. Star has her horns, and Gumball has his ears. Even Steven and Clarence, who in real life would likely have similar body types feature enough extra traits to set the two apart.

ANYWAY, I’m not “doing the internet” anymore. I’m taking care of Edna full-time, after completing my MFA in Writing for Screen & Television at USC.

In case you’re wondering where our parents are, they’re dead. Our mom died of breast cancer when she was just 33.

As for our dad, he peaced-out around the time my mom got sick. His loss – we’re awesome.
Here we are being awesome at the beach. Pushing a wheelchair in the sand? Not so awesome.
In case you’re wondering “What’s wrong?” with my sister – as a stranger once asked me on the street – NOTHING. Yes, Edna has a rare form of epilepsy – Lennox-Gastaut syndrome – but I don’t know if that’s anymore “wrong” than people who don’t have manners.
Basically, Edna was born “normal,” and started having seizures as a baby. They eventually got so bad that they cut off the oxygen to her brain, causing her to be mentally disabled. Or impaired. Or intellectually disabled. Or whatever you want to call it – except “retarded,” because in 2010, President Obama signed Rosa’s Law into effect, replacing that word with “intellectually impaired.”
Which is cool and all, but services for the disabled and the people who care for them are SEVERELY LACKING. Also, there’s a bunch of people working in taxpayer-funded positions who are supposed to help families like us, but don’t. (Big surprise, I know.) They just fill out paperwork (whenever they feel like it) with asinine statements like this:
YUP. I transport my sister down the stairs in her wheelchair, because that is not only safe, but TOTALLY PRACTICAL. Why doesn’t everyone in a wheelchair just take the stairs, for God’s sake? Stop being so lazy, PEOPLE WITHOUT WORKING LEGS!
But, as it says above, Edna’s legs do work. Whether or not she wants them to, is another story.

These are the stairs that I have to carry her up – by myself – on a daily basis. That is, until one of my legs break and both of us are just sitting at the bottom of the stairs, helpless.
For six months, I have begged – BEGGED – the State of California to help my sister, which they are required by law – The Lanterman Act specifically – to do so. But they’ve told me “these things take time” and that I “need to amend my expectations.” (That was said to me when I refused to place Edna at AN ALL-MALE CARE FACILITY. Because yes, that was an “option” that was offered to me.)
Prior to Edna moving in with me in my one-bedroom apartment, she was living with her amazing caregiver, Gaby, back in Tucson, where we went to high school and I did my undergrad. Edna’s reppin’ the Wildcats below.
But back in November, Gaby also died from breast cancer. (FUCK YOU, BREAST CANCER!) This picture was taken a month before she died. She never even told me she was sick because she didn’t want me to worry.
By the way, we were raised by our grandma. Edna and her were very close.
She’s dead, too. Surprise.
She died when I was 20 and Edna was 21. That’s when I became Edna’s legal guardian and Gaby stepped into the picture to help me out with Edna.
So, six months ago, after Gaby died, I moved Edna to California, where I tried to get the folks over at The Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center to help me. I’ve told them I’m worried about our safety – that one of us could get hurt on the stairs – I’ve told them I can’t afford to pay the private babysitters $15/hour because the ones social services sent me who make $9/hour were unreliable (they didn’t show up on time or at all so I could get to school and work), untrustworthy (one of them let Edna go to the bathroom in the kitchen and then took her into the bathroom because “that what I thought I was supposed to do.”)
But the people over at the FLRC don’t return my calls, they don’t file the paperwork on time – and the first caseworker that was assigned to us actually LAUGHED AT my sister when he came to our home to evaluate her. When I reported him to his supervisor, she told me, “That’s just [insert name of said jackass].”
He was one of the two caseworkers that contributed to the report I mentioned above, which also included this:
So let me get this straight – I have to feed, bathe, dress and help Edna in the bathroom and you can’t deduce whether or not she is able to vote? What in the fuck?!
Now I realize I seem angry. And you can bet your balls I am. I’m also sad. Sad for those who don’t have family to stick up from them and who waste away God knows where, monitored by no one. Or monitored by people who physically and sexually assault them.
I’m also sad for the caregivers who are SO EXHAUSTED – trying to take care of their loved ones – while also trying to take care of themselves and battling a system that is supposed to help, but does nothing of the sort. And I know a lot of people give up. They let their dreams, their marriages, their friendships slide. All while trying not to resent the very person you’re doing it all for.
Edna wanted to sit next to me the other day while I was writing. Clearly, she’s not impressed.
Here’s the thing: I REFUSE TO GIVE UP. I’M NOT GIVING UP ON HER OR MYSELF. I’m going to pursue my dreams while taking care of her, AND while ensuring that the people paid to do their jobs ACTUALLY do them.
That’s where you come in. I need you to help me get my story out there. Because I know I’m not alone in this. I want to connect with families who are in similar situations and also show people who have no idea what it’s like to care for someone with a disability (or even a loved one who is sick) that it can be rewarding. Super fucking hard. Exhausting. Painful. Isolating. But, rewarding.
I’m going to get help for my sister – and others. My hope is that by sharing our story, I can bring awareness to the lack of services and help for the disabled.

This is a really uplifting and inspirational story of a family sticking by each other and making things work despite a whole lot of shit
They just want to find other people in the same position they are, for a sense of community and to feel like they aren’t alone.
I know out of all of you, some of you have followers who are living with and taking care of intellectually or emotionally disabled family members, and this lovely and unbreakable pair of sisters need to find them.
