It’s really like they consider her to be the daughter they may never have, and they are the loving parents Cassandra lost when her tumor took over her life
They could have picked anyone else to awaken them: Jenkins, Ezekiel, Jake. But they chose Cassandra. The one who would not accept that they were gone, who wouldn’t take “they can’t come back” as an answer, the one that would have fought tooth and nail to find a way to bring them back to her
