Will Byles (Executive Creative Director) and Tom Heaton (Design Director) of Until Dawn had participated in Reddit’s Ask Me Anything segment earlier this morning, answering fan questions pertaining to the game.
- Supermassive Games is already working on a sequel. However, it is still in its early stages, so there is no announcement date yet. Game publisher is currently unknown.
- The sequel will tie into real history or existing myths.
- Until Dawn was inspired by every horror film ever made.
- Wolfie is not dead unless you see him die.
- Emily’s character was made to be the most heroic and interesting of the game.
- Each of the characters were designed to be strong and identifiable but flawed.
- Sequel will be similar to Until Dawn, including the Butterfly Effect.
- Some feedback given about Until Dawn will follow up in the next game.
- The 2012 PS3 Move version of Until Dawn was cancelled due to demand for a non-move version, following the release of the PS4.
- Until Dawn was meant to look like a movie as much as possible.
- Supermassive Games is currently not working on any DLC.
- Last names were written for the other characters, but since friends don’t use surnames with one another, Supermassive Games decided to not use them.
- Until Dawn is ultimately a tragedy about Josh.
- A sequel would include more branching of the Butterfly Effect.
- Wendigos were already included in the game before Larry Fessenden (writer of “Wendigo”) was added to the cast.
The main inspiration for the Wendigos was the effects of starvation and frostbite, which is why the eyelids and lips have receded and the teeth have grown. (source)
