“People are too attached to their pets lately, it’s so weird!”

For a lot of people, pets are family. Children. Friends. A source of emotional stability. Some people don’t connect with other people easily, pets can allow them to make those connections and bond with another being. I mean think about it, there are reasons why animals are used in therapy after all.

If you don’t understand it or don’t agree with it, then fine. But don’t be nasty to the people that hold their pets in high regard. It’s not cool.

People who don’t consider their pets as a part of their family are baffling to me, and frankly not the kind of people I want to associate with.

People can be like ‘awww you really love your pets’ of course I do if you aren’t going to love your pets don’t get any

I can tell you as someone who worked for years as a veterinary technician that people who view their pets as property instead of family are the WORST pet owners. I have plenty of horror stories to share but I won’t unless someone asks me to because they’re really awful. So basically seconding the sentiments here: don’t get a pet if you’re just going to view it as property. They deserve better than that.
