So I’ve seen a few people referring to Jasper and Lapis’s fusion as Malachite and I gotta say I totally agree! I can’t think of any other gemstone that has the same colour scheme.
However I haven’t seen anyone talking about the fact that malachite can be toxic! No, seriously, if you put raw and untumbled malachite in water it releases a toxic fume that has been known to result in death. The dust from it is deadly as well.
Further more Malachite is an incredibly brittle and delicate gemstone- it’s only a 3 1/2- 4 on the MOH scale (a scale used to measure the strength of gemstones which is a super cool thing to think about in the world of Steven Universe).
